It is possible to set a specific employee on a different team as an approver instead of the leader of the team to which he/she belongs.
To do so, follow the steps below to designate a "direct approver".

① Search for eligible employees.
② Click on "Settings" - "Employment / HR settings" - "Teams & approvers".
③ Click on "Edit."
④ From the "First level approvers" tab, select "Use direct approvers".
⑤ Under "Lookup approvers," search for and specify the approver you wish to designate, either by name, employee ID, or registered e-mail address.
⑥ Click on "Save."
⑦ An approver other than his/her team leader will be set.
*"Approver's approver" is automatically set to the supervisor of the specified approver.

Requests and approvers are tied together.
If a request has already been approved by the previous approver, such as a request for paid leave, the cancellation request will not be sent to the new approver. It will be sent to the approver before the change.
Therefore, if the approver before the change is working for your company, please contact him/her to request cancellation. If the approver before the change has already resigned, someone with your company admin privileges should approve the cancellation on his/her behalf.
